This week is @invisibledisabilities Week taking place now through Oct 26th.
.
An invisible disability is simple - you can`t see it! 👀
.
It includes chronic diseases and conditions that significantly impair normal daily activities. Like the disease I have, Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).
.
This week I want to help bring awareness to friends and colleagues who may not know that I, and millions others, have an invisible disease. Cause we look normal on the outside. 🤗
.

What you don`t see is that because of ME/CFS I lie in bed every day. Not to sleep, but to rest for hours, or work from bed, or recover from an activity, or a months long relapse.
.
My blood pressure drops when I sit or stand and brings a host of symptoms that I cannot control. The ONLY way to alleviate my symptoms is to rest. No reading. No music. No talking, etc.
.
The most important things to learn this week are -
.
▶️ Never make assumptions about anyone`s abilities.
.
▶️ People with disabilities (visible or not) should never have to live with barriers or judgement.
.
▶️ Show grace, kindness, and understanding. (I`ve been blessed my family + friends, like you, do!)
.
▶️ Never judge anyone who uses a Handicap Sticker cause you can`t see their disability.
.
I know some who follow me here have invisible disabilities too and most of my colleagues do not know I live with ME/CFS.
.
If you see someone struggling with a word cause of brain fog that day, or they need other help, remember they might have an invisible disability too.
.
