More on The Pillow Goddess blog Modern angles and warm interiors were "de rigueur" for several modern homes in this 2nd post of a 3-part series on the Austin Modern Home Tour produced by Modern Architecture + Design Society. It was another FANTASTIC Tour!  I always find homes that inspire me - not to mention incredible architectural and design details - which make me want to run home fast to remodel.  (HA!! As we know, that's not always possible, but the kitchens dying for a remodel!) Last week we talked about everything Mid-Century Modern HERE.  This second post, of three (up next week is

Laid up for the holidays from surgery or a bad cold? I've got you covered. But first off, Happy Holidays!  A week from today is Christmas and two weeks from today is New Year's Day. Many families are working hard to prepare. Either for relatives to visit (maybe fixing up the guest room) or for children to be surprised by what's under the tree from Santa (finishing that shopping list) or a bountiful meal, travel, or all of the above. Being Empty Nesters now, our holidays are getting

As some of you have heard, or read about, on Social Media, two of my Textile Art Pillows were accepted into a Fort Collins, Colorado art exhibition at 3 Square Art Gallery, which opens TODAY! An art exhibit designed specifically for interior designers and architects, the "DECO-R: Decorative Arts Exhibtion's" Opening Reception is tonight, June 7th, from 6 - 9 p.m. and the show runs through July 6th. As you can see in the image above, The Anastasia, probably THE piece I'm most

This week is the BIG Kick Off Opening "Due West" of the 7th Annual WEST Austin Studio Tour which begins THIS weekend! What is WEST you ask? It is the premiere spring art event in Austin covering two weekends in may with over 400 participating artists. It is produced by Big Medium, a non-profit whose sole purpose is to support and promote contemporary art and artists in Texas. "Big Medium produces the East Austin Studio Tour, the West Austin Studio Tour, the Texas Biennial, and presents innovative exhibitions throughout the year in the Big Medium gallery." The WEST Austin Studio Tour, of which we are honored and excited to participate in as an artist for the 2nd year, is a

2018 has been a jolt right out of the starting gate!  Starting off the year we've got a lot of irons in the fire.  To keep up with our studio's growth, we welcome our new student intern, Stephanie Munoz. While Stephanie's working on improving your experience with our Pinterest boards, I'll be focusing on implementing our studio's 2018 goals and ongoing marketing & sales training with Cathy Kegley of Luxury Design Marketing. (You'll be hearing much more about Cathy and other great masterminds from the BOLD Summit I attended last fall blog posts throughout 2018.) And of course attending Dallas Winter Market! If the looming drop in temp from 60 degrees to 20 overnight doesn't produce predicted icy roads, I'll be dashing up to

Has there ever been a time in your life or your career where you had to really step outside of your comfort zone and take a bold leap of faith?  Well, I've done a few baby leaps of faith in the past 13 years of being a solo entrepreneur with Deborah Main Designs, and with everyone's love and support it has helped me get my business to where it is today. But, I must say, being bold enough to attend the BOLD Summit 2017 as a Showcase Designer is my boldest leap yet!  And I'm so very excited about it I could burst!!!   I must confess that

Sort of. I said last month I would take some time off and it would be my last blog post for the summer. But I HAD to share my exciting June trip to Dallas Market's Total Home & Gift Show seeing Michelle Workman's new FACET Collection for French Heritage.

Spring is my favorite month of the year and our Shumard Red Oak has almost all of its fresh green leaves on it!  (I'm sorry for those still suffering through winter, but maybe this post will put a spring into your step!) I also love the month of April because it's my wedding anniversary and birthday, back to back, and this year I've been working on my garden to get it all ready for the special occasions. I love nature and it feels great to get back to gardening.

I know that's hard to imagine, since my blog posts are basically short novellas, but I'm going to try for a few weeks to see if I can keep Texture Tuesday shorter.

Look at all those shopping bags my friend Leslie Hyland Rogers is dashing out the door with!  Leslie, founder of Symphony of Soul, and countless other new and old friends, made my first Holiday Open Studio & Sample Sale such a success that I've extended it to four more times in December.  I haven't had an Open Studio since 2011, and I think it will now be an annual or semi-annual affair.

With New York Fashion Week upon us, it's exciting to see what the hottest trends will be for 2017. When it's high fashion time on the runway, we can usually predict in the home furnishing industry that this year's runway styles will make its way into home decor by the following year.

Well, I haven't looked at the news today, but so far, I've not been able to do Friday's Flowers & Trim for 3 weeks now due to terrorists attacks. I'm praying there was not one today (as I have some happy and sad news to share on the creative front) and my thought's continue to be with all those families whose lives have changed forever.

So, today I'm trying to get back to some normalcy with my weekly summer posts.  This Friday's Flowers & Trim is RED!!  And there's an extra special reason why it's RED.
