I can`t believe it`s been 20 years!!!!

Our tiny studio, still in my son`s old bedroom, is like the little engine that could. 🚂
.
If not for an "Open Call for Designers" by Patty Hoffpauir owner of @gardenroomatx, dear friends Laura Del Villaggio of @millistarr encouraging me to enter Austin Fashion Week, Jane Clarke of @ameliasretrovogue teaching me vintage, @cynthia.bloom driving me to @dallasmarket to find a showroom @dsandersltd, and my dearest husband David who nourished me all along the way, I would never have gotten started.

It takes a village. I am testament to that. Especially when I was sick with ME/CFS, had zero background in design, zero business experience, and didn`t even know how to sew. (Thank you @lesliebonnell for teaching me and expert seamstress @kimschlinke for taking over.)
.
Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart and I wanted to give up many times. Especially after a business expert at UT`s School of business snapped at me, "You don`t have a business, you have an expensive hobby!!"
.
Thank you to 3 stores who believed otherwise casadilino, @peacockalley, Aviary Home Decor, and countless custom clients.

I quickly learned to surround myself with talented, supportive people in the art and design industries.
I have too many wonderful friends + mentors to mention here, but you know who you are. Thank you @patricklandrumdesign @lesliemcarothers @smarthomelaura @lindaholtcreative + many more! 🙏🙏🙏

Most importantly, I learned that my passion for making pillows, "my art" which helped me heal, was all that mattered....and going BOLD!

Today, after getting my feet wet nationally with dear friend + mentor @robinbarondesign, I now have a fantastic licensing agent @yudikaufman of @ykdassociates and am focused on that and helping our clients. Plus, traveling with David! ✈️

WOW, what a whirlwind of a wknd and day!

Happy Gratitude Monday friends!

I am incredibly grateful for today and the weekend for many reasons.
.
But first, this morning, I treated myself to a cappuccino on the patio and moments of calm. I took time to reflect on the fun we had at our anniversary dinner party, call my brother in Colorado, and listen to the birds. 🐦 I`m trying to build more breaks into my life like this.
.
The dinner party was a huge success and fun was had by all!!! 🎉🇮🇹🍾🥂
.
David pulled off plating 10 portions of Pasta Alla Norma with perfection. And I had so much fun decorating the table, building the Insalata Verde, and entertaining. We`re so blessed to have long-time and new friends to celebrate with. Will share pics soon. ❤️
.
But the biggest news today, after 4 interested parties from 4 different platforms inquired, (yes, I was starting to go bonkers from the stress! 😵💫) is we successfully rented our home for the summer!!!! Yippee!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
.
I am beyond grateful!!! Very happy, relieved, and we meet the couple in person Wed, as they drove here already from Seattle. And sure enough, it`s a couple needing a place to stay while they shop for a home. 👍
.
I cant tell you how stressful this has been, especially with May 1st already here. But I can breath now and we can move forward with our summer plans to Paris and then Italy again!!! ✈️ 🇨🇵✈️🇮🇹✈️

Travel feeds my soul and gives me constant inspiration. I now can truly get excited about our upcoming summer travels (7 nights in Paris is a first!) with immense gratitude!! 🙏🙏🙏
