Austin Fashion Week – Thank you’s!

For many of you familiar with our monthly “Pillow Talk” newsletter, we’re excited to launch our new format this month, the “Pillow Goddess” blog.  In our first major post, we’d like to assure you that as we develop our blog you’ll be seeing many of the same sections we featured in our newsletter, but with a lot more to offer in this new format.  The thing we’re most excited about is that we’ll get to interact with you directly, learn more about you, and be able to provide  you with content whenever you want it (not just once a month). We’re diving in head first and have A LOT to learn about blogging (and a lot to talk about!), so please bear with us this first month as we experiment and find our “blogging voice”.  But we are so excited about this new chapter with our studio, that we couldn’t wait and wanted to get started right away. So here goes…

Putting the Wraps on Austin Fashion Week 2011

As many of you know, we were honored to be selected again as a showcase designer in this summer’s  Austin Fashion Week 2011.  We’ve participated for all three years since its inception in 2009, and it has been the most rewarding and fun learning experience ever.  We’ve made so many new friends, been matched with fantastic stores (Aviary Decor, Bo Concept, and 1020 Glass Art) and are extremely grateful for the opportunities provided by Launch 787.  So it was especially meaningful to us to have another all-out event for our final summer, and last Austin Fashion Week, as a featured designer.  And to win our Golden Boot for the 3rd year in a row for  Best Home Accessories Designer and see our name in lights at the awards was icing on the cake! Thank you!

2011 Austin Fashion Week Awards Ceremony

Fashion Week kicked off on Saturday August 20th, with a week full of showcase designer events, mashup teams, and new fashion shows at the historic Driskill Hotel, winding up with the stellar Awards Ceremonies on Saturday, August 27th.  As in the previous two years, it was an exciting whirlwind of events featuring local, regional, and national jewelry designers, clothing designers, milliners, hair & make up stylists, photographers and more.  Too many fantastic one-of-a-kind events to mention here.  But, like last year, as a way to say thank you, we wanted to do a little recap by showcasing some of our favorite photos and a select few from the best photographers in town. (Note: We’ve got TONS of photos to share, so we’ll start on that tomorrow….so keep checking back for more!)

But before we begin with photos, we want to thank everyone who voted for us and who attended our event!  We appreciate and value your continued support of our studio and designs.  You’ve given our pillows a home and that feels great! We had fantastic fun at our showcase event at 1020 Glass Art at our “Pajama Party at the Pillow Glass Lounge”.  (Awesome poster too by Jonathon Kirkbride!)  We had record-breaking  attendance with beautiful models wearing vintage nightgowns from Amelia’s Retro-Vogue & Relics and Christion Clothiers.  The store and models showcased both our Redbrick Modern and LUXE VIP pillows with wearable vintage brooches with panache.  All proceeds and silent auction benefited Project Transitions.  What a fantastic evening! Thank you to all food, drink, and hair/makeup sponsors: La Cantina, Tito’s Vodka, Milk & Honey Spa, and Delish, and all the Project Transition volunteers, models, photographers and everyone who made The Pillow Glass Lounge such a one-of-a-kind event.  Thank you for a fantastic final Austin Fashion Week event (and a beautiful write up by Austin’s Famed Chronicle Fashion Love, Mr. Stephen Moser!)…it’s been a great three-year run and SO much fun!  Thank you one and all!!

Watch for photos tomorrow and all week long! Till then, may you have a wonderful last week of October and may fall weather PLEASE find its way to Austin, TX USA!!! xoPG
