Modern angles on the Austin Modern Home Tour in home by Matt Fajkus architecture. More on The Pillow Goddess blog Modern angles and warm interiors were "de rigueur" for several modern homes in this 2nd post of a 3-part series on the Austin Modern Home Tour produced by Modern Architecture + Design Society. It was another FANTASTIC Tour!  I always find homes that inspire me - not to mention incredible architectural and design details - which make me want to run home fast to remodel.  (HA!! As we know, that's not always possible, but the kitchens dying for a remodel!) Last week we talked about everything Mid-Century Modern HERE.  This second post, of three (up next week is

The Telstar home at Starlight Village Homes, Leander, Texas. WOW!! The 2019 Modern Home Tour was over the top FABULOUS!!!  Not to mention we had a gorgeous sunny day and the piece de resistance was a fun Block Party out at the NEW Starlight Village in Leander.  I took hundreds of photos and am so excited about sharing everything with you! But while editing my images, I realized there's absolutely NO way I can squeeze them into one post. Lucky you!  You'll be getting THREE posts out of this fantastic Tour produced by Modern Architecture + Design Society. Today's post on Mid-century modern will be a tad short (okay, we all know, my posts are NEVER really short, no matter how hard I try!), but with inspiring photos, because I want you to learn more about

2018 has been a jolt right out of the starting gate!  Starting off the year we've got a lot of irons in the fire.  To keep up with our studio's growth, we welcome our new student intern, Stephanie Munoz. While Stephanie's working on improving your experience with our Pinterest boards, I'll be focusing on implementing our studio's 2018 goals and ongoing marketing & sales training with Cathy Kegley of Luxury Design Marketing. (You'll be hearing much more about Cathy and other great masterminds from the BOLD Summit I attended last fall blog posts throughout 2018.) And of course attending Dallas Winter Market! If the looming drop in temp from 60 degrees to 20 overnight doesn't produce predicted icy roads, I'll be dashing up to

Has there ever been a time in your life or your career where you had to really step outside of your comfort zone and take a bold leap of faith?  Well, I've done a few baby leaps of faith in the past 13 years of being a solo entrepreneur with Deborah Main Designs, and with everyone's love and support it has helped me get my business to where it is today. But, I must say, being bold enough to attend the BOLD Summit 2017 as a Showcase Designer is my boldest leap yet!  And I'm so very excited about it I could burst!!!   I must confess that

Many Texas families are in shelters, some families are having barbecues today, and some are driving truck loads of donated supplies to help the victims. No matter what you're doing, or what nature has thrown our way, life must move forward, and Texas is a shining example of that strength. On this Labor Day, I wanted to offer you a slight reprieve from all the devastation.

Designing for the future means many things to different people, cultures, generations, and diverse industries. From fashion to architecture, to manufacturing cars and homes, to what interior designers do every day - designing magnificent rooms with state of the art, high-quality products - our society is experiencing

Sort of. I said last month I would take some time off and it would be my last blog post for the summer. But I HAD to share my exciting June trip to Dallas Market's Total Home & Gift Show seeing Michelle Workman's new FACET Collection for French Heritage.

Spring is my favorite month of the year and our Shumard Red Oak has almost all of its fresh green leaves on it!  (I'm sorry for those still suffering through winter, but maybe this post will put a spring into your step!) I also love the month of April because it's my wedding anniversary and birthday, back to back, and this year I've been working on my garden to get it all ready for the special occasions. I love nature and it feels great to get back to gardening.

I know that's hard to imagine, since my blog posts are basically short novellas, but I'm going to try for a few weeks to see if I can keep Texture Tuesday shorter.

Remember last week I said it was Tradeshow Season with Color and Texture On Trend?  Well, Las Vegas Market is wrapping up, and since I'm not there, and had no time to share all my wonderful photos from that AMAZING whirlwind trip last year, this week's Texture Tuesday is dedicated to:

It's Tradeshow season and the hottest trends are color and texture! How perfect for Deborah Main Designs since color and texture are the hallmark of my work. This week's Texture Tuesday features luxury silk pillows from my Essential Decorative Series. If you are a wholesale or interior design buyer, please stop by Peninsula Home showroom (WTC-525) at the Dallas Home & Gift Market today through January 24th to shop for my designs and their amazing home furnishings.

This week's Texture Tuesday (no new post this Friday) is about my studio as I'm busy preparing for my Holiday Open Studio & Sample Sale and YOU are invited!  I'd love to see you, celebrate the holidays together, and show you where I create my artwork.

Texture and color are everywhere in my tiny South Austin studio. So much that I need to do a bit of culling. It seems you CAN have too much of a good thing. Especially when you're a collector, or in more primal terms, as some south Austin stitchers like to say, a "fabric junkie".

I confess. I have A LOT of stuff!!! (But I am not a hoarder, so don't judge) :-)

Well, I haven't looked at the news today, but so far, I've not been able to do Friday's Flowers & Trim for 3 weeks now due to terrorists attacks. I'm praying there was not one today (as I have some happy and sad news to share on the creative front) and my thought's continue to be with all those families whose lives have changed forever.

So, today I'm trying to get back to some normalcy with my weekly summer posts.  This Friday's Flowers & Trim is RED!!  And there's an extra special reason why it's RED.
