How to Not Get Stuck to A Cactus

Sometimes it takes a relative or friend visiting to get you out to re-discover your own back yard. You know how the saying goes that you never really sightsee in the city you live, especially if you’ve lived in it 30 plus years!

Since I’m taking most of April off to enjoy my 60th birthday, that’s exactly what I did today, see all the beautiful sites like waterfalls, flora and cacti at the Zilker Botanical Garden. It’s literally IN my backyard, as I only live up the hill from Zilker Park. Why I have not been there in years is beyond me??

This week’s Texture Tuesday features snapshots of all the diverse texture and color in nature at Zilker Park. And here’s the best way NOT to get stuck to a cactus. Please follow these directions exactly.

  1. Make sure when taking a photo of a flower on a cactus, another cactus is not right directly behind you,
  2. Do not, and I mean, do NOT bend over to get a closer photo of a flower when you’ve got this really sharp cactus right behind you.
  3. Make sure you realize that you’ve got one of it’s long stickers stuck to your behind before you sit down. Good thing I did,  because that would have REALLY hurt if I had gone back to the car and actually sat on that thing, which must have been about 2 inches long!!

I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did taking some time off to relaxt and get outdoors in nature.  Next time, I’m not going to wait until my cousin Cheryl comes for a visit!  Will catch up on the blog  with more art and design starting next week. Till then, please get out and enjoy your own back yard pronto…and watch out for that cactus!

XO PG
