Texture Tuesday – Couture Fashion by Celestino

What has this young man been up to lately?  Well, it evidently seems quite a lot.  Not only is he the creative director of a new magazine, VIVE, but Sergio Guadarrama is the sole genius behind the elegant couture fashion line, Celestino.  I’m starting to get to know him a little because my daughter has been interning for a year at his studio and is getting a first rate education, under his precise guidance, in fashion design and more.  A couple weeks ago we went to the event launching of the magazine, VIVE, and Celestino’s 2015 Fall/Winter line.

Today, I had the privilege of seeing ALL of the Celestino line in one place, at his new studio and beautiful boutique, VIVE. It was AMAZING!  The textures totally captivated me!

Below is just a glimpse from the sidewalk of his new boutique at The Hill Country Galleria. They’re still waiting on proper signage, but if you head out there, it’s a gorgeous drive with all the wildflowers on both sides of Bee Caves Road.

You can shop for Celestino and custom order his designs at VIVE, 12912 Hill Country Boulevard, Suite F-145 (by Dilliards).

They’re still getting settled into their new space, but from what I saw, Celestino’s work is astounding!

The detail, and combinations of materials and textures  in the Celestino line truly mesmerized me!

Sergio, the designer, was kind enough to walk the floor with me to share a little about some of the materials he used for his latest collections.  Some day in the future I’ll do a full interview of the Celestino fashion line so you can learn more about the man and his inspiration.

But for today’s Texture Tuesday, please enjoy the details of the textures in the exquisite textiles featured in couture fashion by Celestino.  I know I did! (Note: Celestino’s new website coming soon!)

And please follow me on Twitter (April 8th and 9th) as I’ll be posting pics from this week’s Boutique Design West Fair (remember, the “Vintage French Modern Tribal” pillow I wrote about in last week’s Texture Tuesday for the Pillow Art Challenge? Well, it’s debut in San Diego is NOW!). You can follow along too by getting BD West’s new app HERE.

Next week we’ll get back to all the buzz surrounding the largest home furnishing show in the United States, the upcoming High Point Market April 18 – 23rd, with interviews of CMJS Creativ, the dynamic design duo – furniture craftsman John Strauss and interior designer Carisa Marie.

Till then, enjoy the photos and the spring wildflowers wherever you are. XO PG

These were two of my favorite dresses by Celestino. The one on the left and below is a flounce cocktail dress featuring French metallic lace and Swarovski pearls.

Celestino speaks my language as I love anything French and metallic! (Remember I have all that delicious vintage French trim I’ve collected!) The way he crisscrosses the velvet ribbon and places these luxurious Swarovski pearls on delicate bows is a detail I love about this dress.

The dress on the right in the top photo, a mermaid style gown, also has French metallic lace and is made of faux fur organza rich in texture. Detail below.

Grab a copy of this new VIVE magazine when you can as there’s some incredible fashion shoots in there. And be sure to check out  Austin Fashion Week by Fashion X Austin April 10 – 18th, as VIVE magazine has entered the 2015 mash up team contest with a gorgeous Celestino gown. Be sure to vote too!

This gown above and below is full of a variety of textures (be sure to check out how incredible it looks in the runway photos at end of post).

That’s what I love about the Celestino line – the diverse mixture of the textiles and textures.

The features of this gown are outstanding:

  • black ostrich feathers,
  • beaded French Chantilly lace,
  • wool jersey fabric, and
  • velvet trimming

And just when you think you’ve seen all of the most beautiful texture in beading and lace in the new VIVE Boutique, out pops this bright tomato orange silk beauty filled with plastic blue flowers dotted with Swarvoski crystals.  Sergio told me that this gown (from a previous collection) was inspired by Japanese armor during the Edo period.  I’ll have to look that up to learn more about the combat warriors of that time. But can’t you imagine a warrior decked out in metal armour in the same shape as these flowers?  Check out the detail below.

Now one of the stunning pieces of Celestino’s 2015 Fall/Winter line was this bridal gown below. Sergio generally only custom creates wedding gowns for his clients, but for each season he usually has a wedding gown as the finale to his runway show. This one was a stunner, and my daughter was able to help work on sewing the appliques.  A challenge for sure, but one she rose to for Celestino!

This finale bridal gown also really highlights the diversity of textiles that Sergio hand-selects in New York.  His gown is made from four materials:

  • Silk jacquard,
  • Basket Weave Organza Textured Wool,
  • Tulle, and
  • French Lace with Swarovski Crystals

The wool is what is so unique on this lovely cream bridal gown, don’t you think? (It’s the fabric in the bottom left corner of this image below).

Lastly, he had two young twin models on the runway with one wearing this dress made of raffia (from trees), wool jersey, and lace appliques. You can see the twins in the runway images from Fashionably Austin at the end of this post.
