Texture Tuesday

Thinking of family and friends on the East coast affected by #Blizzard2015. I have heard today, that the sun has already come out in NYC, so hopefully it will be out tomorrow in the other states. We have plenty here in Austin, Texas, so I will send some your way!

Just got back last week from a fabulous January Home & Gift Market in Dallas at Dallas Market Center and am plotting out the new year.  Met so many wonderful people at #SneakPeek2015 (including Donny Osmond! more on that later) and saw beautiful new designs that I can’t wait to share with you here on my blog.

The Doris Sanders showroom (531-WTC), where my pillow designs, Deborah Main Designs, are once again available wholesale and To-The-Trade at the World Trade Center in Dallas, looks absolutely gorgeous! It’s a real honor to be back there, amidst some lovely award-winning luxury home decor lines. Sorry to have missed many of you who stopped by, but please know that the Doris Sanders showroom is open all year round for interior designers and retailers to stop by anytime. Thank you to everyone who did stop by; details and photos coming soon! (Note: I have a new phone and am having tech difficulty not being able to get the photos onto my computer quite yet….but will have it resolved by Thursday).

But for today, I’m resurrecting #TextureTuesdays, so that you can get some visual interest every Tuesday, and more detailed blog posts every Thursday. I’m trying to learn how to write shorter blog posts….so at least that’s the plan for now.  I hope you enjoy! Have a wonderful day and watch for my first post Thursday about Dallas Market & #SneakPeek2015. And please read below about the fabulous #DesignLux chat on Twitter every Thursday. Till then, stay warm and safe wherever you are! XO, PG

I’m very drawn to wood.  My husband teased me years ago, after we took a camping trip to Big Bend National Park, that we came home with a lot of dead wood photos. I will admit they DO make for wonderful photos because of all the texture and pattern…and I love all that in an object. Wouldn’t this large piece of driftwood make for a wonderful base for a custom coffee table?

I’m sharing this particular beach side photo above for #TextureTuesday, taken on the shores of Deer Isle, Maine (which I’m sure will get their share of snow in this storm!) because I believe wood is such a fundamental foundation to so much of great design. We build our homes from wood, we have wood tables and furniture and kitchen cabinets. My home is filled with antiques from wood. And I saw a lot of texture in wood, metal, leather and fabric at market that I look forward to sharing with you in coming weeks.

This Thursday, I invite you to tune in at 1:00 PST; 3:00 CST; 4:00 EST for a chat on Twitter called #DesignLux. It’s the brainchild of Brandon Smith of D Coop Media.  This week’s chat theme is “Oceanside” and you can see what it’s all about HERE. He’s featuring one of his magazine’s sponsors Wood-Mode (@woodmode) and having guest host, the lovely lifestyle blogger, Amy Beth Cupp Dragoo (@abcddesigns), to discuss Wood-Mode’s new Oceanside Collection.

If you’ve never done a Twitter chat, it’s very easy, you just follow @dcoopsd and you’ll see a hashtag #DesignLux at the end of every Tweet and that’s how you know you’re following the conversation.  It’s a ton of fun and you learn a lot about design and luxury brands as Brandon always has great subjects and hosts.

See you Thursday 🙂
