13 May Deborah Main’s 5 Architectural Digest Design Finds in NHome
Deborah Main Designs received some wonderful press from our trip to New York for #BlogTourNYC in the May/June 2014 issue of NHome magazine. Remember how I had to hold back a bit on some of my design finds from The Architectural Digest Home Design Show? Well, not anymore. NHome Texas Magazine is now online and on news stands, so I’m VERY excited to share with you a lot more about the designs I selected.
The Architectural Digest Home Design Show is one of the premier design shows in NYC showcasing thousands of products from over 300 different brands. Inspiration was everywhere! I’ve ALWAYS wanted to attend because I’ve been an avid fan of the magazine and all the incredible products and features. This years keynote speaker was none other than AD Editor-in-Chief Margaret Russell. The AD Home Show also included lectures hosted by Architectural Digest and design seminars hosted by The New York Times. Other exciting activities included:
book signings, cocktail receptions, cooking demonstrations and the stunning “Dining by Design” tabletops brought to the AD Home Show by Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA). Thanks to Veronika Miller with Modenus, and our generous #BlogTourNYC sponsors, I got the opportunity I’ve been dreaming of to attend the AD show as press.
Above is Veronika making introductions and thanking the AD Show for hosting “Marys & Mimosas”, a delightful kick off event to the show. And below are two of the many designers I’ve been chatting with on Twitter that I was absolutely THRILLED to meet #IRL (in real life): Anne Edwards of Goldthorpe & Edwards boutique interior design firm and life style blogger, Stacey Bewkes of Quintessence.
(Note: My trip to New York City for #BlogTourNYC, presented by Modenus, was paid for by our generous sponsors. Many thanks to DXV, Miele, BLANCO, Rutt Cabinetry, West Edge Design Fair and Prizer Hoods. Photography in this post is my own except for the cover and article in NHome. All opinions expressed are my own, unless quoted.)
Below is a quick glance at the article with my five design picks from the 2014 Architectural Digest Home Design Show (AD Show).
Please read full article here: NHome Texas Magazine.
The brown box above lists my five design picks (highlighted below) and I’ve included more photos I took at the show. Please take some time to read the NHome article and explore the websites to learn more about the artisans & brands I selected for the magazine feature. Three of the artisans I found in the fabulous MADE section of the AD Show thanks to fellow BlogTour teammate Marcy Michaud. One, due to architectural designer Kim Lewis’ fabulous design, was one of our sponsors, Prizer Hoods, (read more about their exciting booth below) and the other was from the incredible table-top DIFFA section.

Designer Kim Lewis Highlights Hot Kitchen Design Trends for 2014 at NYC Design Show.
Prizer Hoods, one of the generous sponsors of my #BlogTourNYC trip, started in 1880 as Prizer-Painter Stove Works and has prided itself on its fine craftsmanship ever since. Now, Prizer Hoods customizes their commercial hoods down to the last detail for each designer, contractor or consumer. With luxury meeting personalization, Prizer Hoods has the ability to fulfill everyone’s dream kitchen no matter what their style is or what trends are in. Clients can choose from a variety of colors (190 to be exact), finishes, materials, trims and palette silhouettes. As they boldly say: “our passion is your dream made true.”
And it was just my luck because Prizer Hoods not only made my #BlogTourNYC dream come true, but I got to meet the lovely Kim Lewis at the Prizer Booth during the AD Home Design Show.
Kim Lewis, known for being the lead designer of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, is an ambassador for Prizer Hoods and designed the Prizer booth with 2014 kitchen trends in mind. She gave a wonderful presentation (that I’ll go into greater detail in a future post), but I will say that because of how Kim designed and showcased Prizer Hoods, it became one of my design picks from the AD show! Thank you Kim!
Here I am with the delightful architectural designer, Kim Lewis, who I was thrilled to find out lives in Austin!!
“The Prizer Hoods display was inspired by the displays found in an art gallery…..and encourages visitors to define their own style…” “Prizer Hoods offers a range of customizable options that are unlimited as far as hoods go in the kitchen world. This display shows the fun and endless possibilities that exist when a homeowner and designer work together.” Kim Lewis, 2014 AD Show. (Colors & finish options below.)

Above is Texas interior designer and fellow blog tour mate, Jeffrey Johnson, who is on his way to NYC for the #BlogTourNYC (Part Deux) next week with Modenus. Be sure to follow Jeffrey on Twitter so you can keep up with the design event he’ll be “From Runway to Runners: The Creative Process in Fashion and Design.”
#5: DIFFA Table Top by Fendi Casa & Luxe Interiors:
I apologize for the blurry photo above, but I wanted you to meet Tim Sack from Austin who pulled together this amazing table. It was great fun to run into Tim at the airport and find out that he too was going to be at The Architectural Digest Home Design Show. As part of the much anticipated 17th annual Dining by Design event, this table-top event, sponsored by DIFFA merges the best designers and architects to create “over-the-top” dining environments in support of all the organizations that work to prevent, treat, and educate in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Tim’s table just happened to be the one I selected. The vision of this incredible “classical dreamscape in a modern setting” table was designed by Philip Gorrivan and sponsored by Luxe Interiors and Fendi Casa. It was truly spectacular in person and a privilege to see this table and many more. (Other table photos in a future post).
We at Deborah Main Designs hope you have been inspired by these photos and all the wonderful artisan and luxury products available to you! We want to thank NHome Texas Magazine for their interest in my work and my attendance at The2014 Architectural Digest Home Design Show. I always run out of room in my blog posts, so you can guarantee you’ll be hearing more about, and seeing more wonderful photos, from the AD show very soon. Till then, hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend and are enjoying the much-needed rain in central Texas! XOPG
