Laid up for the holidays from surgery or a bad cold? I've got you covered. But first off, Happy Holidays!  A week from today is Christmas and two weeks from today is New Year's Day. Many families are working hard to prepare. Either for relatives to visit (maybe fixing up the guest room) or for children to be surprised by what's under the tree from Santa (finishing that shopping list) or a bountiful meal, travel, or all of the above. Being Empty Nesters now, our holidays are getting

You know, sometimes you just have to say it.  I think the world would be a lot better off with women running the show.  Now, mind you, that is solely my opinion, but I also know first hand that there are some AMAZING women interior and product designers out there in the home design world.  So let's start there, shall we? Two of the top women product designers in the U.S. home furniture industry today are Robin Baron of Robin Baron and Tina Nicole of Nathan Anthony. They both happen to be launching incredible new furniture pieces at the upcoming fall Highpoint Market October 13 – 17th, starting this weekend, in Highpoint, North Carolina. When it comes to the launch of a new product for any design business,

Art heals. I know this first hand. You see, before I ever started making luxury pillows I got sick. Although I still have chronic health conditions that go unseen, but often limit me, I'm extremely grateful to be much better. The reasons are many. Having a fantastic husband and supportive friends and family are at the top of the list. But one primary reason I am better is because I discovered my passion for creating pillows. And through that discovery of "my art", it literally helped me heal.  (You can read about it HERE.) I've often shared artists and their artwork with you here on our blog, especially in the last two years during the WEST Austin Studio Tour. Today I want to talk more specifically about how art heals, by featuring my dear friend, artist Linda Stabinski. Linda has a show opening TODAY, Friday September 7th, from 5 - 9 p.m. (EDT) and running through September 29th that you should

Are you ready?  Because in order to make things happen in your life and business, you need to be ready to take action. Not tomorrow, but TODAY! Happy Texture Tuesday!  School's out, WEST is over, and summer's here!! Hallalujah!! While Austin is hitting triple digits far too soon, I finally went to Barton Springs Pool last week, and that, my friends, officially kicks off summer for me. I dont know if you followed our #BIGPurge on Facebook, but spring was jam packed. My husband, David, and I got rid of two storage units and held a huge Estate Sale (with the help of 6 amazing friends!  Have to say Austinites are so kind and helpful.) and then turned around and did the WEST Austin Studio Tour. And I even

This week is the BIG Kick Off Opening "Due West" of the 7th Annual WEST Austin Studio Tour which begins THIS weekend! What is WEST you ask? 2018 has been a jolt right out of the starting gate!  Starting off the year we've got a lot of irons in the fire.  To keep up with our studio's growth, we welcome our new student intern, Stephanie Munoz. While Stephanie's working on improving your experience with our Pinterest boards, I'll be focusing on implementing our studio's 2018 goals and ongoing marketing & sales training with Cathy Kegley of Luxury Design Marketing. (You'll be hearing much more about Cathy and other great masterminds from the BOLD Summit I attended last fall blog posts throughout 2018.) And of course attending Dallas Winter Market! But it may help the people affected by that wrong. And that's exactly what the Interior Design Community (IDC) did. I won't go into all the negative details of this man's dishonest actions that left the Dorchester, Massachusetts non-profit organization, All Dorchester Sports & Leadership (ADSL), high and dry without any lighting

Has there ever been a time in your life or your career where you had to really step outside of your comfort zone and take a bold leap of faith?  Well, I've done a few baby leaps of faith in the past 13 years of being a solo entrepreneur with Deborah Main Designs, and with everyone's love and support it has helped me get my business to where it is today. [caption id="attachment_14103" align="alignnone" width="584"] Elements Art Exhibition at Davis Gallery, Austin, TX.[/caption] Today is Labor Day, and my heart is with all of you affected by Hurricane Harvey, laboring so hard to get your life and home back and those laboring to help the families and businesses.  There's this constant mixture of sadness, trauma, confusion, but also love, hope and beauty. Many Texas families are in shelters, some families are having barbecues today, and some are driving truck loads of donated supplies to help the victims. No matter what you're doing, or what nature has thrown our way, life must move forward, and Texas is a shining example of that strength. On this Labor Day, I wanted to offer you a slight reprieve from all the devastation.
