As a featured artist in Austin Fashion Week, I have created and executed original art exhibitions in a variety of venues, winning a golden boot for Best Home Accessories Designer three years in a row. Each year, designers were selected from a competitive field and matched with a boutique or gallery to do one major creative event.
Upon attending my final event, Stephen Macmillan Moser, fashion editor of The Chronicle, wrote, “Deborah Main’s gorgeous…pillows with their own removable vintage brooches were the focus of the Pajama Party at the Pillow Glass Lounge at 1020 Art Glass Fine Gifts & Decor. The brilliantly colored blown glass reflected Main’s brilliantly colored and dazzling pillows (the sales of which benefited Project Transitions), and the party was sparkling…”.
As a new artist and designer at the time, I was very grateful to Austin Fashion Week for giving me the opportunity to not only gain valuable experience and exposure in producing my own exhibitions, but meet and connect with the wonderful people who support my work. It was great fun!
