15 Feb 10 Inspiring Pillow Goddess Product Picks That Will Make Your Interiors a Knockout!
Oh boy, I’m finally catching up! Many of you interior designers are on your way to KBIS this weekend for all the latest trends in Kitchen and Bath. How exciting! But first, let me tell you how incredible the much anticipated LIGHTOVATION January show was. Cause if you don’t have Dallas Market on your Tradeshow annual list, it’s high time you did. Mark June 19th – 22nd LIGHTOVATION to see incredible lighting all in one place. So if you are an interior designer or decorator, or even a homeowner looking to brighten your interiors this year, and you haven’t been to the largest lighting show in the world, you are truly missing out. And here’s why!
LIGHTOVATION features the hottest new lighting trends, umpteen new brands and showrooms, informative educational seminars in the SMART Center, and about the prettiest displays you’ve ever seen. As one of the Style Eyes put it, “It’s a visual feast!”
There’s a few brands that I’ve been keeping tabs on (read post HERE), and CWI Lighting is one that knocked it out of the park with their brand new showroom. I had the pleasure of joining my dear friend Laura Van Zeyl, VP of Lighting Technology Development & Marketing (aka The Lighting Goddess), and the owners, Noor and Ali, and National Sales Manager Maher Shaheen for the NEW showroom’s ribbon cutting ceremony, and I was impressed.
Not only did CWI Lighting design a gorgeous new showroom, but they also showcased about 20 “original” designs for their up and coming re-branding. CWI Lighting is really beginning to make a powerful new statement with their “In-house design team” headed up by Maher himself, so keep a watch out for more new designs with this lighting brand.
I always think to myself, kind of how I view jewelry design, ‘How can lighting brands keep coming up with chandeliers and pendants that are unique from their competitors?’ Just when I think I’ve seen them all, a design like this below surprises me with its sheer elegance that would look fantastic in a tall foyer or over a dining room or kitchen island.
LIGHTING SHAPES – Lighting shapes come in so many different forms that it is simply astounding to me all the kinds of lighting that can be created. And of course, they are all pretty much LED now. Geometric, cut crystal, and long narrow dew drops were some of the wonderful lighting shapes I noticed at LIGHTOVATION this year.
I love the diversity of application in all of CWI’s new lighting designs, but particularly when you can showcase the Andes pendants (below) as a multi level chandelier and then a single strand across two dining room tables. The different applications afford interior designers and homeowners many unique ways to style a room.
#1 Pillow Goddess Product Pick – The Andes gold and white lighting by CWI Lighting.
#2 Pillow Goddess Product Pick – The Genevieve crystal chandelier by CWI Lighting.
And I love the painting behind it too. I can totally see this chandelier in an elegant white on white dining room (like below) but also a cozy nook of winter white with a white fur rug and a roaring fireplace at a ski lodge. Of course, I would be lounging by the fire with a glass of Veuve Cliquot Champagne instead of being out on the ski slopes in the cold. I was a horrible skier in my youth and never progressed past snow plow!
Winter market is always an exciting time to see new products and this January Tradeshow was no different. I always want a few more weeks of winter break before starting work again, but with the timing of the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market and LIGHTOVATION, they light a fire under me after the holidays, jump starting the new year with design inspiration. I’m always excited to see all the new products and meet interior designers and brands #irl (in real life).
Dallas Market Center continues to establish itself as the leader in Southwest Tradeshows with LIGHTOVATION and the new Interior Home + Design Center. This January, the IH+DC was newly packed with showrooms that have moved into this coveted space from the main floors of the World Trade Center. I was certainly impressed with how that entire wing in a Mid-century side building is filling out with top brands.
Global Views + Studio | A Home had their Grand Opening last year (of which The Pillow Goddess covered in several posts HERE) and I am always amazed at how gorgeous all the different rooms and vignettes are displayed. Stunning!
BLACK & GOLD – was a color combo that I saw everywhere. Probably because it is such a classic and can be found in almost any style of interiors in both residential and commercial, it remains constant in design and not merely a trend.
#3 Pillow Goddess Product Picks – The Nordic Gold Table Lamp by Global Views + Studio A Home
You just can’t go wrong with decorating your home with such a classic. I think I may want these lamps in my living room. What do you say Patrick Landrum of PL&D/Patrick Landrum Design? Patrick has been helping me spruce up the interiors of our home selecting paint, lighting, rugs and more. We’re hoping to do the kitchen by next year.
Loved these cool black corded, gold-finished lighting pendants by CWI Lighting. They are not only incredibly striking, but sexy with such a modern feel to them. I can see them not only in this foyer in a home (like below) with a classic black and white flooring, but equally sleek in a swanky Manhattan speakeasy.
#4 Pillow Goddess Product Pick – Forate lighting pendants by CWI Lighting.
It was such a highlight of market to have the opportunity to see Thomas O’Brien again, after first meeting him 5 years ago. He has many new designs out, but these black and gold pendants caught my fancy. They’re so versatile.
#5 Pillow Goddess Product Pick – Black and gold pendants by Thomas O’Brien for Generation Lighting.
Thomas O’Brien for Generational Lighting
I had the pleasure of seeing designer extraordinaire Thomas O’Brien launch his new lighting designs for Generation Lighting. Along with two other designers he had many new lighting options from which to choose. That event was PACKED and so fun to meet such a diverse group of lighting reps from all over the country all in one place and talk with Thomas again. You see, Thomas was the very first interior designer I heard speak in the atrium at Dallas Market Center five years ago in 2014, when I was just getting The Pillow Goddess blog started. (I wrote about it HERE)
Later that day, I also attended his book signing, so now I have two of his inspiring books. Such a humble man who I’ve admired since I heard him speak about the trials and tribulations in such a candid way about starting his design business. It was so refreshing to hear him in 2014 and I believe helped me gravitate more toward interior designers and the home industry.
COLOR – Now you know me and color, right? As The Pillow Goddess who not only writes this design blog, but actually designs luxury decorative pillows, color and texture are my middle name. I LOVE color, from bold and bright to soft and soothing, I love it all.
Shay Geyer for Botanical Mix – Nothing quite speaks color louder than Shay Geyer’s fuchsia orchids for Botanical Mix. And the funny thing is, is that I’ve been working on a fucshia custom order for a few months now, so this gorgeous color has really been part of Deborah Main Designs studio life for awhile. Today the fuchsia pillow I designed for the Goddess of BOLD SUMMIT, Julia Molloy, is finally in her home now…..YAY!!
Please enjoy these images below of the brilliant fuschia orchid color in Shay Geyer’s gorgeous floral arrangements. It’s always a treat to see Shay at market and her floral designs filled my cup with color for the winter season, making me eagerly anticipating the coming of spring. Perfect for a vacation home, that can’t have plants needing constant care, or a showhome, it’s still hard to believe these are artificial orchids!
#6 Pillow Goddess Product Pick – The “Audrey Luxe Triple” by Shay Geyer for Botanical Mix.
Jeffrey Alan Marks for Progress Lighting – After seeing so many wonderful designer friends, colleagues and new showrooms, I was very excited to meet California-based interior designer, Jeffrey Alan Marks. He is the FIRST designer to launch a collection for Progress Lighting in their new Design Series Brand. (I wrote about it in my pre-market post HERE) I was smitten not only with Progress’ massive showroom, which I had seen at their ribbon-cutting ceremony last year, but also with the inaugural launch of Jeffrey’s Pointe Dume Collection for Progress Lighting’s NEW Design + Series. (Note: I’m only featuring ONE out of 38 NEW designs, but I loved them all, so please be sure to see each one HERE. He uses mixed materials, including leather straps, and it’s all stunning and inspired by the California coast!)
With a soothing blue that is neither light blue or sea foam (thank God, as that name is so overused it drives me absolutely crazy!), Jeffrey Alan Marks has created the most gorgeous blue, his signature color called “Maliblue”. And let me tell you that my images do not do it justice, it is a beautiful light blue in person and a delightfully refreshing coastal color that I am sure is going to be HOT this summer!
Note: How funny….this is the third Pillow Goddess Product Pick also selected by the Dallas Style Eyes. Please note, this is purely cooincidence, but obviously we have similar design tastes.
#7 Pillow Goddess Product Pick – the Surfrider pendant by Jeffrey Alan Marks for Progress Lighting .
I so enjoyed meeting Jeffrey, seeing his beautiful Pointe Dume Collection (38 gorgeous pieces HERE) and receiving an autographed copy of his new book.
GOLD + WHITE – Gold and white is so sophisticated and refreshing in any interior. Whether it’s a coastal home or an elegant mansion, there is just something simplistic and soothing, yet also refined about decorating with this color combo.
As I enjoyed weaving in and out of all the new showrooms that have moved to the Interior Home + Design Center, Palecek showroom is one I first met last spring at Dallas Design Week. For anyone who loves texture like I do, Palecek is your brand! Everything in their gorgeous showroom has texture and they are the nicest people!
I not only love this chandelier but the wall hanging and coral in glass. Such an array of options to add texture to your home, don’t you think?
#8 Pillow Goddess Product Pick – Palacek Seychelles Coco chandelier.
And, as always, Global Views + Studio A | Home never disappoints! I love vignettes and they do it with a capital “V”. Look at all these incredible gold and white products full of texture in this one vignette. And this isn’t even all the shelves filled with more. Every single home product in this vignette could decorate an entire room with gold and white. These products – from vases to objets, to bowls, lamps and mirrors – would look fantastic in any home, as a touch of gold and white can be both casual and elegant.
#9 Pillow Goddess Product Pick – Global Views gold and white home accessories.
One final, luxurious luminaire in gold and white is the Modern Forms chandelier (by WAC Lighting). Both modern and geometric, this free-floating beauty is like a sculptural work of art that can be used in many areas of your interiors, individually or grouped together, for both residential and commercial.
#10 Pillow Goddess Product Pick – The NEW collection “Catalyst” chandelier by Modern Forms.
That’s a wrap friends! You now have TEN different lighting products and home accessory options selected by yours truly, The Pillow Goddess, that will help you and your interior designer make your home, or hotel project, an absolute knockout this year. Which one is your favorite? If you have a room you plan to specify one of these products for, please let me know and perhaps I can feature it in a future blog post.
Till next time, when the Austin Modern Home Tour kicks off next week, please enjoy a few fun photos from my time with friends at LIGHTOVATION! XO PG
