22 Mar Go West Young Man!
“Go West, young man, go West and grow up with the country.” – Horace Greeley
This week’s Texture Tuesday takes you West for sure. Right into the heart of Austin, Texas, where when you go West young man, you will also grow up with ART at the West Austin Studio Tour (WEST)!
Big Medium (host of the EAST and WEST Austin studio tours) recently announced over 300 participating artists for the WEST Tour this upcoming May. I am proud to be one of the studios, Deborah Main Designs, showing my work for the very first time in this annual event.
Along with me, my studio will feature the incredible artwork of four other talented artists:
- Encaustic paintings by Annie Darling
- Sculptures by Judith Simonds
- Mechanical Sculptures by Yuliya Lanina
- Paintings by Denise Jaunsem
Three of these wonderful artists have already participated many times in EAST (WEST’s Fall counterpart) and one is brand new to Austin. So please welcome these four amazing artists to my studio and WEST and see the complete list of participating artists studios, art galleries and events right HERE. We’re all very excited to share with you all the color and texture of our artwork and look forward to seeing you in May!
I’d like to thank friend and fellow Art Diva from Women and Their Work, artist Virginia Fleck, for referring three of these women to me. Be sure to stop by Women & Their Work’s gallery to see the current exhibition by Liz LaFleur called “Greener Pastures”. Below is a quick tease on that “must-see” conceptual art show. Bet you can’t guess what this is a photo of!
This week’s Texture Tuesday is a brief peek into a small portion of each of the WEST artist’s work that will be at my studio, Deborah Main Designs. I encourage you to explore their websites further in anticipation of the Big Medium West Austin Studio Tour (WEST) event and “Save the Dates” for two WEST tour weekends in May:
May 13 – 14 and 20 – 21
More to come! We’re all so very excited to share our art with you in May! Thank you Big Medium!! Till then, enjoy the artwork below and this glorious sunny spring weather. For me, the arrival of spring is always a sign to hop in the car to Bluebonnet Cafe to see the wildflowers and eat PIE! XO PG
