30 May Deborah Main Tosses Up #PillowFight Highlights
It’s Summertime….the perfect time for a recap of our first #PillowFight!!
That’s right, the Pillow Goddess, WAS in the hot seat last week for a #PillowFight as guest host of #DesignLux chat’s “Pillow Fight”. Didn’t see any feathers flying as in “Along Comes Polly” (at least not yet!), but boy was it a blast!!
Thank you so much Brandon Smith for having me as a guest host. I always look forward to your chat #DesignLUX every Thursday. I think we were rather a tame bunch for this first go around, so you might have to have a few more #PillowFights to get the adrenalin going. But in case you, dear readers, missed the chat, do not fear as I recap it all right here (below) with a few opinions, pillow finds, and tips from followers of #DesignLux chat.
Please connect with us on Twitter and follow the designers who joined the chat (below) and the Pinterest board for inspiration:

Here are the chat’s questions and just a few highlights from our first #PillowFight on #DesignLUX chat.
Brandon kicked it off with “Pick your pillow poison… the #DesignLUX #PillowFight board has 123 beautiful pillows to choose from! http://www.pinterest.com/dcoopsd/pillow-fight-designlux-dives-into-pillows-with-pil/ …“
Q1: Hit me with your best shot…..What are your thoughts when it comes to throw pillows? Love or “Along Came Polly”? #DesignLUX
“I love to incorporate pattern, texture, size, and sometimes stuff as an accent. It has to be interesting to look at” @CozyStylishChic
“I like the idea of repurposing things as pillows. Handkerchiefs, table linens, etc. Why throw/give away good material?” @Lights_Online
“These pillows are the ‘thing’ in Iceland” @ChandaSeymour
“Love the colors in these Trina Turk pillows” @BKatzGlass
“I really kinda fell in love with this particular pillow” @dcoopsd
Q2: Throw pillows don’t just have to be square or made of simple fabrics. Share your favorite throw pillow designs. #DesignLUX
“Print, Size….and squish – I want to be able to plop at anytime ” @Bertazzoni_ltl
“Here’s another nook that’s become totally cozy with pillows and lighting” @Lights_Online
“I still have a major soft spot for Deborah’s tassels“. @CozyStylishChic
“This is me” @Color4Charlotte
“Use of stuff depends on pillow’s purpose. If I’m laying my head on it, I don’t like “eye pokers” @dcoopsd
“If it ain’t got a little bling, it ain’t my thing…just a little” @CozyStylishChic
“When it comes to fun pillow shapes, children have all the fun!” @dcoopsd
Q3: When does it get to be too much? What are your steadfast rules for using throw pillows in home decor?
“One of my rules is that I like my pillows in odd numbers. I’m weird that way.” @dcoopsd
“Such an easy way to update your decor…merchandise rules: odd numbers look better.” @Anzea_Textiles
“When you can’t find the cats on your bed.” @Color4Charlotte
“Here’s soft pin, pulls room together w/shape, size and color!” @deborahmain
“Sofa must be comfortable not just pretty. Too many pillows can be cumbersome.” @ChandaSeymour
“For a sofa we usually decorate with 2-4 pillows. No Mas. Two Solids and two with a burst of color” @HingeDecor
“If you can’t see the headboard….or the bed #PillowOverBoard” @Bertazzoni_ltl
“I love a good throw pillow but there are limits. You should feel comfortable, not sliding off the couch” @dcoopsd
Q4: As a wise man once said: “True beauty is on the inside….”. What inner materials make for great throw pillows? #DesignLUX\
“yes very soft and definitely cozy Brandon. All about the comfort which is what pillows are made for” @BKatzGlass
“Prefer feather & down…I like my pillows PLUMP!” @deborahmain
“We mostly use down for decorative pillows and poly for sleeping.” @HingeDecor
“Anything that doesn’t “fight back” ” @Bertazzoni_ltl
Q5: One last #PillowFight question: To chop or not to chop? What say you? #DesignLUX
“Just remember that chopping is a personal preference as seen here: Houzz.com” @Lights_Online
“I feel like…if one must practice their Karate…chopping pillows is safe” @Bertazzoni_ltl
“Chop – I say no rules. Do whatever feels right. No right or wrong answer here. ” @CozyStylishChic
