17 Apr Deborah Main’s Top 10 Design Finds at #BlogTourNYC

Yay!! I can now tell you about ten of my design finds from #BlogTourNYC because Modenus released their Best of BlogTour NYC list last week!!! I’ve been dying to share with you all the FABULOUS design I saw, but had to hold back on my top three. Modenus asked each of the Bloggers for their top three design picks from the whole entire four day tour. Can you imagine? I can understand why they chose three because there’s a dozen of us. Doing the math that gives 36 top design finds from our tour, so that’s a pretty fabulous list!

But I can’t  begin to tell you how challenging that was to select just THREE from the entire tour!!!!!  Especially since every waking hour for 4 days straight we saw design inspiration around every corner! (Official style spotters and interior designers are used to making selections like this…but this was very new to me.)

#2: Vintage Barcelona Style Outdoor Chair with Cast Stone Top by Bunny Williams

 Design inspiration was everywhere…..in the shops, the showrooms, the food, the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, the flower district, the designers, the learning workshops on photography, floral arranging and styling, not to mention just NYC itself.  And  you name it, the colors, shapes, patterns, materials used (feathers on one armoire!), we were surrounded by some of the best design NYC has to offer!!

But I must confess, I’m not the best at selecting only a few things….that is exactly why Deborah Main Designs has eight different pillow collections to accommodate the many different design styles I love. That is also why I specialize in one-of-kind pillows as there are so many different combinations of materials and gorgeous textiles and vintage French ribbon and vintage jewelry to mix and match, that I could never just limit myself to one pillow design!!  Truly I can’t!!

But I behaved after my daughter said “Well, Mom, Veronika only asked for three”. And I responded with, “I simply can’t pick just three!!” But “Mom, you have to follow the rules!”

Okay, now since when have I EVER followed the rules….I’m a notorious “rule breaker”!!!

Thankfully with the help of my talented daughter’s keen design eye (she’s a fashion and jewelry designer herself!), and her uncanny ability to not have any difficulty making decisions, I was able to successfully whittle down my list to three, exactly what Veronika Miller, asked for. (But I still need to hold back on my next five design picks at the AD show as they’ll be featured in an article coming out in the May/June issue of NHome magazine so stay tuned, and be sure to pick up a copy come May.)
