19 Dec Orange Tree & Footballs for the Holidays with Deborah Main
Only SIX more days until Christmas!! Yikes!!I I haven’t even started shopping…
But so happy today because I finally finished ALL my deadlines (and school’s out!), including a 48-hour rush order for a client of Interior Design Gallery in time for for the client’s holiday party tomorrow night. Challenging, but great fun and team work!!
It was such a busy fall for Deborah Main Designs‘ studio that time just flew by…literally! We were immersed in launching our brand new website, filling holiday orders, doing two holiday events (thank you to all who came out to The Embellished Cottage and Interior Design Gallery), not to mention school exams and our daughter’s fashion debut at Stitch Lab (more on that later). So this post is a little late….but, in some ways it’s perfect timing!!
The back story: Local interior designer, Robin Bond, of Robin Bond Interiors approached me in September about donating one of our Les Petits Bijoux holiday ornaments for the Celebri-tree fundraiser at the University of Texas Co-op benefiting The Rise School of Austin. With little time to volunteer, I regularly donate my pillows to silent auctions, like The Crystal Charity Ball in Dallas, and other local charities including this Celebri-tree fundraiser. Well, Robin decorated a fabulous tree (as you can see above!) with an orange and white theme for The University Texas. Our little ornament, with vintage French orange trim, 1960’s fabric, and a sparkling vintage button, was just one of many lovely ornaments, but the guest of honor ornament was footballs signed by Mack Brown.
We didn’t get a chance to swing by to see the trees, but we most definitely did not want you to miss out either. Please read more about it, and holiday organizing tips, in Robin Bond’s newsletter.
As we celebrate the holidays, the passing of another year, well, what better time than to honor Mack Brown who just stepped down as U.T.’s head coach after a stellar career of 14 years. I confess I’m not a die-hard football fan, but I remember my husband telling me once (maybe even twice!) about a profound quote that Coach Brown said to his team after winning the National Championship,
“Don’t let this be the best thing that ever happens to you.”
That can be a lesson for all of us to remember in life, just that one simple quote. As the new year approaches, and we all look forward to a fantastic 2014 with new opportunities (We’ll be celebrating Deborah Main Designs 10th anniversary!), we send our very best wishes to Coach Mack Brown and a BIG thank you to interior designer Robin Bond of Robin Bond interiors!! Till next time, enjoy all the beautiful colors of this holiday season, especially orange! Happy holidays, XO PG
