03 Nov Featuring Select Austin Fashion Week Photographers!

Been awhile since I lasted posted and many posts to catch up on (I can’t believe I’m just now getting to some Austin Fashion Week (AFW) photos!?!?).  But hey, Matt Swinney, owner of Launch 787 and the mastermind behind AFW scheduled it the day school started and my kiddo started high school (aha! a legitimate excuse!), so its been a whirlwind to say the least!

But what a fantastic week of non-stop events featuring incredibly diverse local designers as well as national and regional ones.  From the Kick Off to the final Awards show, Austinites got a real taste of a hotbed of local talent and more, and although AFW is in its infancy, it gets better and better each year.  (Maybe next year, they’ll treat regional and national buyers to some VIP tickets so that designers work can be showcased not just in Austin but to the world!)  Kudos to all the designers, staff and volunteers in making AFW such a success as it evolves into one of Austin’s premiere fashion shows….cause in my opinion folks, there’s plenty of room here in Austin for a wide variety of fabulous fashion shows!

I’ve been so blessed to be a lucky boot winner for 3 years in a row…thank you Matt….thank you Austin….thank you to all of our supporters across the country!! The runway show during Austin Fashion Week kick off was at the Harley Davidson showroom in Austin, TX and some adorable kids were featured as models too!

I missed out on ALL the fantastic runway shows, like Boudoir Queen, at The Driskill hotel (which was a new added feature to this year’s Austin Fashion Week), but there were some exquisite-looking  men’s garments (okay…men too!) as you can see!

An eye-popping bathing suit runway show was also featured at The Driskill Hotel!

The Awards show was held at the new 2nd Street Austin City Limits Studio, which was really cool inside….very black, dark and dramatic.  That final runway show featured such talent as Wren (captured here by Chad Harlan) and two of our best local clothing designers Linda Asaf and Gail Chovan.  Watch for upcoming interviews and more event photos here in our blog next week!
