Thank you!)  Here’s the direct link if you’d prefer to be able to read it here: Spring/Summer 2015 Pillow Talk from Deborah Main . Dear Friends,
I can’t believe it’s already June?!? Since I missed our spring newsletter, our  studio wishes you a very happy spring AND summer. And if you have any graduates, congratulations, it’s time to celebrate the start of summer!
As you probably know by now, most of our spring in Austin, was spent dealing with the devastating floods.   Thankfully my family and business are on high ground, but many suffered  devastating personal loss and property. To help the families, I’m honored to be a part of the “Reach Out” Benefit Trunk Show this Saturday, June 6th at The High Road at Dawson, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

If you’re in Austin, please stop by, because you too can help all the families affected by the tragic floods by shopping.  (50% of all sales will be donated to the Austin Disaster Relief Network).  I would love to see you!  (Please see event details on side bar). If you can’t make it, and haven’t already donated, please consider making a small donation to Austin Disaster Relief Network.

Here’s a fun Texas-size vintage souvenir scarf pillow you’ll be able to shop for in different colors and half of your dollars will go directly to the families affected by the Texas floods.
We only send out our newsletter four times a year, so I’d like to catch you up. Last year we did some much needed business development with The Business Success Center. We also celebrated our 10th anniversary with the honor of being (because of you and social media) a 2014 Martha Stewart American Made Finalist. Thank you again for all your help to reach that national recognition. It’s a milestone for sure! Now onto the next decade!
This year our studio has been busy making our website “mobile friendly”, working with our new independent rep, Michael Ruvo (in CA, NYC and Vegas), filling orders, writing our weekly #TextureTuesday blog post on Pillow Goddess, reorganizing our fabrics and trims, and preparing for the Total Home Home & Gift Market in Dallas, June 24 – 30th.

We are thrilled to be back home in Texas at the Doris Sanders showroom (#531) at the World Trade Center with representation in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and New Mexico. The showroom is open year round for wholesale and to the trade. Please stop by to see our entire collection!

I continue to enjoy meeting, and learning from, so many wonderful designers and bloggers through Modenus’ fabulous Blog Tours, the Dallas Sneak Peek and the online Interior Design Community.
But our focus continues to remain on you, our customer, providing you with the highest level of personal customer service, while creating heirloom-quality pillows for you to enjoy for years to come. That’s what we truly love to do! Whether you purchase a pillow from one of our stores, our website, Deborah Main Designs, on Instagram, at a trunk show, or through a custom order, you can always depend on us to assist you in any way.
One of the exciting outcomes for our studio of being active on social media and blogging has been all the people we’ve met on and off-line. I have grown to be a part of the home and gift industries, learning so much along the way from you, skilled artisans, luxury brands, design bloggers, and talented interior designers.  In fact, I’m working with some right now on updating my small 1950’s bungalow in Austin, Patrick Landrum Design and Hjardeir Dunn Design. And getting countless advice from many other talented friends & designers in the Interior Design Community, like international color expert Amy Wax , the genius behind the app Color 911, and kitchen design guru Susan Serra.  I appreciate you all!I invite you to please follow my blog, Pillow Goddess, to keep up with our studio throughout the year. In the coming months you’ll learn about the many design decisions that homeowners have to make (hopefully with the help of an interior designer!) when remodeling, from kitchen cabinets, to furniture, to lighting, tiles and more. I’m in the midst of picking out a color for my roof. Good Lord, I had no idea roofing had  changed so much with too many shingle color choices for sure!Thank you for reading  our newsletter and your continued support!

Welcome to Our New Stores in Texas and Kentucky!

From Kentucky to Hawaii, and in between, we are proud to add two new stores to our roster, and a customer all the way in Hawaii.  Thank you for your orders!  See below the commissioned and custom orders for My Favorite Things in Lexington, Kentucky and Springhouse Emporium in Salado, Texas. Please be sure to stop by their stores to see all the beautiful furnishings and gifts they carry!

Owner Tom Hulshafer commissioned a collection for his customers around the Kentucky Derby (but of course!). It was a true delight to create a collection for the store’s “All Things Kentucky” room featuring vintage horse silk scarf pillows and Kentucky state hankie pillows. We also created a one-of-a-kind Les Bijoux pillow with pink & gray vintage brooch for their 10 year anniversary decor. You can see all the wonderful photos from My Favorite Things 10 Year Anniversary Celebration with Vern Yip

HERE.

Owner Charlotte Guthrie ordered a green and cream collection of mostly Les Bijoux pillows as she knew her customers would love the vintage brooches. They look beautiful in her store mixed in with antiques and gifts! You can see more furnishings and gifts on their Facebook

HERE.

Featured Cause

We regularly donate our luxury pillows to silent auctions throughout the year for many great causes.  We were extremely proud to be able to enter a pillow for the Pillow Art Challenge at the 2015 BD West Design Fair in San Diego in April.  The pillows in the challenge were auctioned off to benefit Invincible Me.
I really enjoyed designing and sewing this pillow for such a special cause to help battered women. The experience also challenged me to learn new sewing and design techniques. The multiple layers of texture incorporate new, re-purposed, and vintage materials including Chinchilla fur and a vintage leather beaded belt. If you’d like to learn more about Invincible Me, the Pillow Art Challenge, and each artist, please click HERE.

Thank you to Koni Hospitality who sponsored the event!

Here are two of the winners from the silent auction with all proceeds going toward helping battered women shelters. #InvincibleMe #enddomesticviolence
